The 1,054-room Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport is the newest luxury hotel in the City of Boston, and the most significant hotel project in the city for the last forty years. The property features seven outlets for drinking and dining, a signature spa, fitness center, and rooftop pool. It boasts more than 100,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and caters to the most discerning clientele.
Job Description
To ensure the highest level of service at the spa within the Omni Boston at the Seaport Hotel. The Spa Director will be responsible for the overall operation function and management of the spa, demonstrate leadership to maximize guest and team satisfaction, and ensure the consistency and application of all spa policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Maintain operating criteria/spa concepts and be responsible for the coordination and scheduling of all Spa-related services in relation to assistance with policies, seeing that the Omni Culture and objectives of the Spa are being upheld.
- Responsible for managing, directing and coordinating all functions of the spa..
- Lead by example through performance level, the focus on quality, the cheerleading for the goals.
- Be a proactive communicator, an initiator and highly organized. Ability to satisfactorily communicate (verbal and written) with guest, co-workers and management.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, associates, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Address any guest issues and provide proper service recovery to ensure satisfaction of guest.
- Interact with guests, providing full knowledge and assistance for maximum guest usage in a friendly but unobtrusive manner with all guests.
- Develop a highly motivated team able to create the most effective organization, service and product for Spa and congruent with other areas of the Hotel.
- Mentor and develop hourly staff and supervisors into effective leaders.
- Arrange the training of the Spa MOS (Moments of Service) audits for all positions within the Spa.
- Oversee the cleanliness and coordinate special requirements with Housekeeping, Laundry, Stewarding, Food & Beverage, and Engineering.
- Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
- Effectively integrate the Spa with the Hotel operation wherever possibly in accordance to the direction of Spa trends.
- Utilize all computer systems relevant to the departments.
- Ability to issue recommendations regarding the annual operating budget, capital, operating planning, and further periodic evaluations of financial performance, including reports on sales and operations with supporting statistical data.
- Establish and implement operating policies, concepts and procedures for the Spa.
- Ability to be cross trained in all functions of the Spa and Hotel, where appropriate.
- Schedule and assist spa groups with reservations and on day of services.
- Participate in Spa promotion and public relations.
- Monitoring of hiring, disciplining, training, development, promotions, and terminations to insure positive associate relations.
- Generates and implements creative new approaches to providing quality guest experience and services. Is responsible for the guest satisfaction scores in the Spa.
- Responsible for ensuring all equipment and supplies in the Fitness Center and Spa are stocked and in working condition.
- Follow proper procedure for payment of goods sold.
- Always comply with Omni standards & regulations to encourage safe & efficient hotel operations.
- Ability to effectively maintain communication to all managers and supervisors in the spa.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three-years of proven leadership experience. Full service, high volume Spa environment, and/or hotel/resort experience strongly preferred.
- College degree in Hospitality or Business Management, preferred.
- Reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language required, must be able to communicate with guests and staff professionally and with empathy.
- Thorough knowledge of Spa services, Spa menu writing, retail product lines, retail merchandising, cost control, labor control, general maintenance, and accounting.
- Understanding of modern techniques in massage therapy, nail services, cosmetology, esthetician services and basic hair stylist services required.
- Understanding of state and local regulations pertaining to spa operations, to include maintaining appropriate licensures and meeting required health and safety standards.
- Ability to handle stressful situations, while maintaining a calm and welcoming demeanor.
- Able to set priorities for the Spa il team and provide feedback to others that enhances performance.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and provide guest follow up in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer skills to include basic office programs Spa Soft program preferred.
- Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
- Ability to be certified in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation).
- Ability to obtain a State of Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission server permit.
