PREVENTION SPECIALIST
OMNI Youth Services, the northwest suburbs· premier youth services agency has an excellent opportunity for a Prevention Specialist - Health Educators for our IL Human Performance Project to develop and manage youth leadership programs that empower peer-peer student leaders around healthy decision making, substance use, and establish positive, supportive school cultures.
This position is perfect for someone who is a natural leader themselves and comfortable meeting new people and working in a variety of environments. Positions will work with school personnel to develop mutually beneficial programs for teens, plan and implement training opportunities, and conduct outreach (phone calls, e-mails, meetings) to new target communities/schools.
Provide ongoing support and technical assistance for existing groups, support and collaborate with other team members on co-occurring projects, report on the program performance, assist in both research and creation of content materials, present program content to audiences of various roles and sizes, develop informational materials and communication campaigns, and apply strategies for continuous quality improvement.
The ideal candidate will be able to work comfortably with a wide range of people including youth, parents, school administration and faculty, as well as community leaders. The candidate must possess the desire to be team-oriented, have a solid belief in experiential learning, and be comfortable and confident in public speaking. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to change are critical.
Required skills:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in public health, marketing, education, social work, psychology, counseling, education, or related field is required.
- Proven leadership and project management experience a must (professional or volunteer).
- Ability to communicate and network effectively with diverse populations with multi- or inter-disciplinary colleagues, implement effective prevention strategies with fidelity, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted through the course of work, write clearly and concisely, effectively speak publicly when conducting presentations and/or facilitating meetings, work independently under limited supervision and organize multiple work assignments, collect and report on work as required by the Department, when needed.
- Candidate must have a valid driver's license, access to a car, and the ability to lift and transport program materials, required, and be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and have self-initiative and a positive, upbeat attitude while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be a leader capable of working with teams to achieve outcomes.
- Creativity, design, marketing skills, professional social media experience, and experience with Adobe Creative Suite are a plus.
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccine required or Proof of Medical/ Religious Accommodation
Desired skills:
- Event planning, creative, problem-solving, knowledge in health and wellness attention to detail, and website maintenance.
- Spanish language skills are a plus.
