KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Director of Supply Chain is responsible to obtain the most affordable supplies and materials for the company.
- Track Inventory and Place Orders: Determine what types of materials and supplies are needed and to place orders as needed. This will involve keeping an inventory of materials and supplies on hand and replenishing these items as they are used. Will oversee the flow of materials to help determine inventory levels and needs.
- Collaborate with Finance on 13 week cash flow and SIOP on inventory roll forward reporting
- Establish Cost Budgets: Create a budget for spending on materials and supplies. This would include materials and supplies pricing as well as staffing and transportation of goods. Senior Director of Supply Chain must work closely with SIOP and OPS leaders, such as those in production, to complete inventory planning and forecasting reports that will impact the budget.
- Develop and implement KPIs and workbench metrics, and standard work for all buyers in the organization.
- Manage all transactions with select suppliers: Build relationships with various suppliers in order to receive competitive pricing and quality products. Implement performance, contracts and pricing, with select suppliers the Company will do business with.
- Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
- Assesses current material availability; communicates supplier availability, delivery systems, and other variables.
- Manages team that prepares and processes purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Drafts, explains, and implements instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and PO management.
- Skilled negotiator understanding contracts and contract negotiations
- Ability to prepare bid specifications
- Experience creating purchasing and procurement policies
- Evaluates and approves conditions for issuing and awarding bids.
- Resolves grievances with suppliers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Maintains and/or implements purchasing and recordkeeping systems.
- Acts as the company’s representative in negotiations with suppliers.
- Coordinates removal or disposal of surplus materials.
- Administers the departmental budget.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
- 5-10 years’ experience in buying at an Industrial, Home Building or Engineered products manufacturing company, preferably with commodities, metals, plastics responsibilities
- Extensive experience managing inventory and utilizing purchasing systems
- Highly results oriented & focused on business priorities, with a successful record of accomplishments
- Demonstrated effective analytical and problem resolution skills and understand basic accounting functions
- Be able to travel approximately 25% or as required to plants and suppliers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.

- Understanding of business and management principles.
- Thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in the company.
- Proficient in computer software programs for business, such as Microsoft Office Suite & Oracle
EDUCATION
Academic credentials should include an undergraduate degree in business, engineering, management or equivalent technical knowledge and experience.
