What are the responsibilities and job description for the Packaging Operator position at Omya Inc?
BASIC FUNCTION:
Operate bagging, palletizing, stretch wrap, and forklift equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain safe working conditions and practices to achieve a zero (0) lost time injury record within the area of responsibility. Perform work duties in accordance with Omya Quality Systems Manual procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of forklift operation including safe driving technique.
- Operate forklift to load products into bulk, flatbed and van trucks.
- Perform basic troubleshooting on equipment with the ability to resolve small mechanical issues.
- Assure finished product meets customers’ expectations and requirements. Understanding of paperwork to ship loads correctly.
- Machine set-up and bagging according to customer specifications and packaging schedule.
- Attention to quality in all aspects before putting in bulk truck, trailers and pallets.
- Live the Omya Values; perseverance, modesty, integrity and courtesy.
- Keep work area clean, safe, and in orderly condition. Perform daily safety and mechanical inspections of work area and equipment. Enforce all Company safety regulations. Report immediately any accidents, safety violations, acts of insubordination, thefts, etc. to immediate supervisor.
- Ability to work overtime and accept call-ins with or without prior notice.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent. Skills and abilities to operate forklifts and industrial equipment. Effectively communicate in writing and orally. Computer literate. Ability to read and understand various written procedures. Mechanical ability and troubleshooting skills.
Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions. Must be able to lift to and including 75 lbs., as well as, the ability to do a lot of physical work; such as reaching, climbing, lifting, moving on and off forklift and various other physical activities required for the job.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $22.50 per hour
