  • Ability to perform assigned responsibilities within desired timeframes and with zero errors that would result in losses to either the Credit Union or to its members.


What You’ll Do

  • The Assistant Controller will manage the general accounting practices of the credit union and supervise the accounting team, while applying GAAP and regulatory accounting procedures and requirements to the financial data and systems. This position will provide support and back up to the Controller in the event of Controller’s absence. Maintains accurate accounting records, prepares internal and external reports on specific accounting items, and performs a variety of detailed accounting duties requiring specialized accounting knowledge and computer system training.


Essential Functions:

  • Manages, mentors, and develops a team of accounting personnel, managing work allocation, training, problem solving, performance evaluation and the building of an effective team dynamic.
  • Manages the credit union’s Treasury (cash management), including accounts payable, wires, share draft clearing, ACH, and overnight cash management.
  • Assists with the preparation of financial statements, including preparing adjusting and closing entries.
  • Assists with quarterly preparation of the regulatory CALL report.
  • Updates ProfitStar FPR by obtaining download files from information systems department; importing financial information into the system; reconciling the imported data to the general ledger and subsidiary ledger reports from various ledgers; making necessary changes to imported data and pulling reports from FPR.
  • Implements policies and procedures for the accounting department, ensuring that they reflect current regulations and GAAP. Communicates these policies and procedures to accounting staff, ensuring timely implementation.
  • Produces monthly budget variance reports.
  • Assists with internal and external audits and regulatory exams.
  • Conducts performance reviews and maintains employee records pertaining to performance, training, and attendance. Conducts performance management coaching.


Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor of Accounting, and 5 years of experience with progressive responsibility in accounting and management.
  • Treasury management experience a plus.
  • Five or more years of experience as a supervisor or team leader is required
  • Experience in financial services industry preferred.

Compensation Range

$64,000-$96,000
