RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as SME (Subject Matter Expert) for assigned Health & Safety topics. 1) Maintain regulatory expertise, stay apprised of proposed and/or actual regulatory changes, acquire and maintain appropriate certifications as required, 2) interpret regulatory requirements and ensure that Magellan's SIP standards, procedures and forms are compliant, 3) support stakeholders companywide by researching and evaluating identified issues, engage and manage contract SME resources when necessary, provide interpretation of regulations, alternatives and/or solutions, 4) serve as program administrator for any required programs for assigned OSHA and NFPA topics. 5) network with other SMEs within the industry to further develop knowledge and expertise.
Serve as primary point of contact for assigned operational regions (multiple regions), responsible for 1) researching and evaluating health/safety/compliance related issues raised by stakeholders in assigned regions, providing answers and solutions, 2) engaging appropriate internal/external SMEs when necessary.
Up front involvement in scoping, definitive plan and design phase of projects, focusing on identifying and analyzing hazards/risks, and evaluating options for mitigating through engineered, procedural or administrative solutions.
Incident Investigation Stakeholder: 1) Review all IDRs (Incident Data Report) and IIs (Incident Investigations) to ensure that the necessary details of an incident are provided. Seek further clarification and additional details from incident investigator when necessary. Evaluate incidents for potential "lessons learned" bulletins. Post final IDR and II in LiveLink. 2) Participate in quarterly in-depth analysis of incident investigations looking for trends, systemic issues, improvement opportunities and additional "lessons learned". 3) Conduct management-led investigations as requested.
Participate in emergency response drills and/or events to maintain competency in Safety Officer role.
Responsible for one or two of the following: 1) Conduct quarterly in-depth analysis of the results from Contractor Inspections and Facility Inspections looking for systemic issues and identify solutions to mitigate problem areas. 2) Participate in the design of annual safety training and specialized training. 3) Develop and distribute monthly SIP meeting materials. 4) Review safety committee meeting minutes and recommendations for trends and common themes.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Safety, Certified Safety Professional preferred. 2-4 years’ experience in one or a combination of the following: 1) health /safety/compliance, 2) industrial hygiene, 3) pipeline operations, 4) engineering.
Final job title, grade, and pay will be commensurate with background, skills, and experience of the successful candidate.
Primary job location will be determined based on the final candidate selected.

The annualized rate for this position begins at $76,000 and ranges to $115,000.
The final job grade and salary will be commensurate with the experience and skill level of the final candidate selected.
