The Operations Analytics department helps improve the performance of our operations by developing and implementing standards and goals.

Job overview and responsibilities

The Air Operations Performance Manager will lead data collation and analysis related to operational functions within Air Operations. The manager's focus areas include but are not limited to: proactively identifying and developing process improvement opportunities, leading the data analytics development for the organization, and providing data driven business insights related to productivity, operational performance and efficiency, ops reliability, strategic initiatives and program management. This role will be expected to interact and effectively communicate with business leaders and all levels of the organization, by managing and maintaining great levels of partnership and proactively seeking out opportunities for process improvement, have very strong technical and analytical background and be able to deliver results with limited supervision.

This manager will have a passion for data and analysis, attention to detail, strategic thinking, and a strong work ethic. Organization and a drive for generating a high-quality output are keys for success in this role.

• Able to translate business requirement/problem into a comprehensive analytical framework using modeling/statistical technique. Handles all data and business intelligence requirements, from end-to-end, for the allocated business groups
• Apply statistical techniques and relevant concepts to generate actionable insights driving business performance
• Lead the development and build high-quality visual presentations, dashboards, tools and reports for the Air Operations team and individual business teams throughout the organization. Design tables and views that serve as the "single source of truth" for United's Air Operations performance data
• Pro-actively identify process improvement opportunities and perform root cause analysis/diagnosis leading to significant business impact
• Create and continuously improve operational reports and analyses as needed; be responsible for the report structure and metrics to communicate relevant information clearly and effectively to decision-makers.
• Handles and maintains the partnership with business groups throughout the Air Operations function to understand organizational needs and design solutions
• Design relevant metrics that indicate operational health and advise operational decisions. Automate reports and processes to improve operational efficiency. Document the Air Operations data landscape, maintain an inventory of reports and plan for report consolidation, elimination, and/or improvement

This position is based at the CSC-Willis Tower, located in Chicago, IL. and considered as a hybrid work-schedule working on a 3-days in office schedule, however, that may evolve with the needs of the company.

Qualifications

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
• 4 years airline experience
• 2 years analytics experience
• Experience in Finance, Statistics, Engineering, or other Quantitative/Analytical field
• Experience with Capacity/Staffing modeling
• Proficient with writing complex queries and procedures (i.e. SQL, Python, Foundry, etc.)
• Experience with Data Visualization skills using one or more reporting tools (i.e. Spotfire, Tableau, etc.)
• Strong understanding of United's business and operations
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
• Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
• Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

• Minimum 2 years experience in NOC, Inflight, or Flight Ops
