At United, we have some of the best aircraft in the world. The Avionics Technician is responsible for providing quality service to internal customers in Technical Operations. This includes performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of aircraft radio, electrical and avionics systems.
Starting hourly rate is up to $41.51 p/h, subject to a collective bargaining agreement.

We're looking for a full-time Avionics Aircraft Maintenance Technician (AMT) who has valid Airframe & Power-plant certification to join our Technical Operations team in San Francisco, CA.
In this vital role, you will provide service and maintenance for aircraft systems, power-plant, airframes, and components. You'll handle a wide variety of duties that make every day different, including inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, parts replacement, and repair, as well as routine maintenance.
Keeping our fleet flight-ready
- Perform aircraft maintenance work in accordance with FAA and Company regulation
- Adjust, repair, or replace defective components based on analysis of test results following blueprints, schematics, wiring handbooks, and also other technical documents
- Perform such typical maintenance functions as cabling, component removal/installation, wire harness removal/installation, fabrication/repair of wire assemblies, and continuity checks
- Fabricate and install all wiring assemblies, static lines, and associated mechanical equipment
- We offer initial training, specialty classes, and recurrent training in technical areas and on other topics such as ethics and compliance.
- With experience, drive, and determination to excel, you can move into a variety of roles, including management, inspection, quality control, fleet planning and others.
- After gaining seniority, there will be opportunities to transfer to other locations within our outstanding network.
- Since this is a union position based on seniority, you will be assigned an initial schedule crafted to meet our needs at the airport.
- You must be available for any shift within a 24/7 operation, weekends, and holidays
- You may be required to work mandatory overtime, when vital.

What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

- High School Diploma or GED/Educational Equivalent
- FAA A&P License (or within 6 months of attaining your A&P certification)
- Valid US Drivers License
- Twelve (12) months experience in radio and electrical/avionics trouble shooting and repair including IFE (In-Flight Entertainment)
- The position will require to work onsite at our San Francisco, CA (SFO) location
- Digital literacy
- Must pass a background check and drug screen upon contingent job offer
- An eagerness to learn and willingness to train
- The ability to access elevated aircraft areas via ladders, lift trucks, boom lifts, and other devices
- The strength to lift 50 pounds, physical flexibility, and be able to work in confined spaces
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
