About you and this role - What you would do in this role
In this role, you will serve as an Infrastructure Operator for Dow's Sabine River Operations (SRO) Infrastructure Team located in Orange, TX. Sabine River Operations is strategically located in the heart of the Dow Gulf Coast sites. As a high value, large site in the Dow fleet, you will have opportunity to learn and deepen your skills across several different technologies and processes.
You will operate assigned equipment or areas of the plant and perform operations related activities per the work process. You will utilize chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience to operate and troubleshoot the plant in a safe and efficient manner.
The Infrastructure Operator role is ideal for an experienced process operations tech that:
- Has a proven work history in a team environment where individuals often set priorities and complete work activities with minimal supervision.
- Can clearly communicate verbally and in writing to internal and external partners.
- Demonstrates behaviors with a clear safety focus for all employees and the community.
- Has strong reading comprehension and listening skills.
- Exhibits troubleshooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems.
The Details:
As the Infrastructure Operator, you will be ready to take on the following challenges and bring value to Dow as you:
- Ensure safe operation of critical utilities to key Infrastructure assets including site buildings.
- Operate below ground utilities and grounds including but not limited to river water, pump houses and process water(s).
- Operate above ground utilities including, but not limited to, steam, air, nitrogen, and fuel gas in the field.
- Follow Operating Discipline principles, procedures, and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
- Operate and field checks process equipment. Monitor process conditions, equipment, and control systems.
- Perform tasks assigned to operations throughout shift hours including issuing safe work permits, equipment isolation and preparation, pulling samples, etc.
- Ensure operational activities and process performance are aligned with Plant and business goals.
- Participate in Root Cause Investigations, as required.
- Coach and train others on plant operations.
- Perform immediate response activities and manage unplanned events.
- Participate and be an active member of site emergency response team (ERT).
- Use process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and Operating Discipline.
- Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements, and preventative maintenance, utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines.
- Use measurements and tools to operate the Plant at optimum conditions.
- Manage multiple and complex plant computer control systems.
- Demonstrate your commitment to a safe work environment by working safely and complying with environmental, health and safety standards.
- Demonstrate leadership skills that inspire others and lead through influence.
- Operate a forklift/fork truck.
- Make safe and educated decisions in the event of a process upset, including identification of near-miss incidents.
- Participate in all safety programs and required training.
- Prove your commitment to maintain ethical integrity in both successes and setbacks.
Qualifications - Required education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities that are needed for this role (must haves).
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 2 or more years of industrial experience OR 4 or more years of relevant military experience.
- This is a 24-hour operation and will require the ability to work 12-hour shifts during the day and at night on a rotating basis.
- Must be willing to work weekends, and holidays, when required.
- Must be willing to work overtime when required.
- Must have valid US Driver’s License.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills - An expanded list of qualifications that are "nice to have", but not essential.
- 3 or more years of Steam or Powerhouse plant experience.
- Associate degree or higher in Process Technology.
- Work experience in a Petro-Chemical plant environment.
- Proficiency in reading trends and graphs in real-time data.
- Mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting, maintenance, diagnosing and repairing experience.
Physical Requirements:
Candidate MUST be willing and able to meet the physical demands of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:
- Wear required safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes, including respirators, in areas of intense or continuous noise.
- Lift, push, and pull with frequent bending and reaching, including drum handling.
- Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground, including tight and closed in spaces.
- Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Essential functions of this position may require use of safety equipment with weight limit thresholds that include the total of the individual’s weight plus any other tools/items carried to tools and other items and materials. Example: Safety equipment rated for a maximum weight limit of 300 total pounds.
