Unit Description:
Floor-Neuro. Neurology/Neurosurgery/Trauma Acute Care:
The 7th floor focuses on caring for med/surg and intermediate care patients who have Neuro and Urology diagnosis and surgeries. We are Joint Commission Certified for our Stroke and Spine Programs and Nationally Certified in delivering Stroke Care. Caregivers become experts in delivering the most up to date care as it relates to strokes. They will also see Neurosurgeries for those who need the surgical interventions for Back Discectomy and Fusion, Neck Fusions, Brain Surgeries. The 7th floor will also care for urology patients. These can be both surgical and non-surgical patients. TURPs, nephrectomies, kidney stones, UTI’s. Stroke and Neuro certification are the two most common certification opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Current CNA Certification.
- and -
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
OR
Completion of nursing assistant training program (verification of nursing assistant training program completion required and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS
OR
Completion of a fundamentals of nursing class with a passing grade within the past two years (official transcript required to verify completion of class and C.N.A. certification required within 120 days of hire) and BLS
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
CNA experience or applicable healthcare experience.

Current enrollment in nursing school.

Basic computer skills.
Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.

Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- and -
Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
- and -
Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).

May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
