What are the responsibilities and job description for the AM Operations Manager position at OnTrac?
As the next AM Operations Manager at OnTrac, you will supervise and coordinate activities of our morning (AM) workforce. Under the direction of the Facilty General Manager you will consult and coordinate with the Night (PM) Operations Manager and works closely with Dispatchers and Delivery personnel to ensure our packages are delivered on time!
What you’ll do as an Operations Manager
- Take care of our number one asset, our Package Handlers
- Maintain and contribute to a safe work environment
- Record line haul time of arrival, destination, cargo, and departure time and expected arrival time at the next destination.
- Supervise the daily functions of the AM personnel to ensure timely completion of the AM, morning Package Handlers.
- Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving problems. On rare occasion may need to deliver delayed packages to customers.
- Initiate or suggest plans to motivate Package Handlers to achieve their goals.
- Administer discipline and counseling as appropriate to foster optimal performance of employees.
- Prepare multiple business transaction/efficiency-related reports on a daily basis.
- Oversee the recruiting, interviewing, screening and selection processes of the AM staff.
- Assign vehicles to routes according to factors such as length, trip purpose and freight requirements.
- Perform any other task or assignment as deemed necessary by the organization.
What you’ll need to be a successful Operations Manager:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) at a minimum
- Five years lead or supervisor experience, three in similar industry; or equivalent combination of both education and specific work experience.
- Three years of industry experience; or less with Bachelor’s Degree.
- Knowledge of branch routes as well as driver and customer base.
- Math skills – ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
- Ability to compute and apply concepts to practical situations.
Our work environment:
Our warehouse environment has moderate noise levels, you’ll be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle packages on occasion. The physical activity associated with this position is considered higher than normal operations manager roles. You’ll occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move items averaging 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
Shift: Monday through Saturday 6:00 am to 4:00 pm
