Office Assistant (Enrollment Assister) - Bilingual
Enrollment Assister Job Summary:
The Enrollment Assister is responsible for providing enrollment opportunities for people in communities across southern Minnesota, who lack access to healthcare and health insurance. Provide direct assistance to clients and patients to obtain health care benefits through MNsure (the MN health insurance exchange), including informing clients of all options, determining eligibility, and assisting with enrollment and follow up.
Enrollment Assister Job Responsibilities:
- Successful training, testing and certification as an in-person assister through MNsure Health Marketplace prior to start of enrollment activities.
- Ensure on going MNsure Marketplace training and recertification.
- Provide enrollment assistance, including but not limited to, completing coverage applications, gathering required documentation, and troubleshooting the enrollment process for uninsured children and adults to access subsidized, low-cost, and free health insurance programs through the health insurance marketplace to include Medicaid/Medical Assistance.
- Provide structured patient education on health coverage, engage in follow-up conversations, and offer renewal assistance for enrolled individuals.
- Work together and cooperate with all staff for the best outcome for the patient.
- Appropriately communicate with clients and patients in sensitive situations.
- Distribute outreach materials to patients, community members, partner organizations and businesses to build coverage option awareness.
- Discover and attend community events in order to promote coverage options, the mission and services of the organization as instructed or needed.
- Assist in facilitation of presentations and education at community events.
- Collaborate with various local organizations to build awareness of coverage options. Spur enrollment and build referral linkages.
- Attend and successfully complete all required training programs; participate in ongoing conference calls, webinars, and other professional development opportunities.
- Assist in completion, maintenance, and submission of necessary reports per requirements of the grant and MNSure.
- Accurately provide required reporting to track goal achievement and client satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain relationships with other ODHC staff to ensure efficient daily operations of all departments.
- Know, understand, and ensure adherence to the organization’s policy related to the patients’ right for confidential care and HIPAA.
Enrollment Assister Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Qualifications:
- Formal education beyond high school.
- Experience working in a community service organization or customer/patient service position.
- Experience working with a diverse population of people.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
- Confidence, professional judgement, and grace under pressure.
- Knowledge of financial assistance/insurance programs are a plus.
- Bilingual skills are required.
