The Medical Editor provides editorial support services (including, but not limited to, editing, fact-checking, proofreading, and document styling) for either “overflow” of Managing Editor and Sr. Managing Editor workload or accounts without an assigned Managing Editor due to size or scope.
As part of the Editorial team, you’ll be responsible for the following activities:
- Assisting with the editorial duties (fact-checking, proofreading, copy editing, editing, MS Word and PPT formatting, submission prep for abstracts and manuscripts) of editorial personnel workloads, including but not limited to:
- Liaison with internal therapeutic teams
- Preparation of EndNote, writer, and other project-specific instructions (templates, cover letters, etc)
- Covering accounts for Managing Editors/Sr. Managing Editors on PTO as necessary
- Performing editorial duties for accounts without an assigned Managing Editor/Sr. Managing Editor due to size or scope
- Managing timelines for assigned projects to meet deadlines
- Generating assignment bibliographies using EndNote
- Communicating with supervisor and/or internal team regarding status of assignments
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 1-3 years of editorial experience within a medical communications company or related field, with a working knowledge of editorial development and submission processes pertaining to articles, posters, and abstracts
- Working knowledge of:
- Medical education business and how editorial functions are executed within this business environment
- Development and submission processes of all types of editorial projects (manuscripts, supplements, posters, abstracts)
- AMA style
- Medical terminology
- MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, EndNote, and PubMed/Web searching
- Ability to multi-task in order to meet multiple objectives while maintaining quality
- Ability to work alone or as part of a team
