Location: US or UK Based, Virtual Position

Duration: Full Time Employee

Job Scope:

• The Managing Editor leads the content operations of OpenExchange.TV (OETV), ensuring that OETV content is presented in a timely, consistent, compelling, and attractive manner – not only on the main media site, but also in affiliated media streams such as social feeds and partner distribution sites. 
• The Managing Editor is part of a core content team that generates topic and content ideas and assigns them for completion and production.
• This is a new position in an exciting new media initiative for OpenExchange, which is expected to help continue the growth that put OpenExchange at #183 on the list of fastest-growing private companies in America.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the OETV website, including the site home page, the category taxonomy, menu structure, featured content, and event calendar.
• Build and maintain a master editorial calendar for the site and the editorial team
• Review and edit all content titles and descriptions to ensure that they are complete, informative, and compelling.
• Review and edit all content metadata to ensure consistent application of tags, keywords, categories, and dates across the site, ensuring a smooth and consistent user experience.
• Develop, promulgate, and enforce standards for production and presentation across the site, including page layouts, player templates, and feature application.
• Coordinate members of the production and live streaming team that are feeding content to OETV.
• Advise OE team members working with third-party content and research providers on how to produce content that lives up to OETV standards.
• Keep track of content licenses, ensuring that all OETV content falls within permitted use
• Review, analyze, and prepare reports on all aspects of user activity across the site, including: audience size, frequency, and composition; content popularity; and viewer flow and other behavioral measures.
• Develop digests and newsletters to registered viewers.
• Initiate and manage a social media presence for OETV.
• Participate actively in audience growth and retention initiatives.
• As needed, hire, train, and mentor additional editorial team members
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (journalism, business, or economics degree preferred)
• 3 to 5 years of editorial experience in a dynamic online news or information service site.
• Hands-on experience with a content management system such as Drupal or WordPress is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to write clear, accurate, and compelling online copy
• Mastery of English language technical skills, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation
• Strong sense of what constitutes a superior design and user experience
• Demonstrated familiarity with investment and macroeconomics topics and terminology is preferred.
• Foundational skills in video production (preferred)
• Demonstrated skill with Office 365 and Adobe Creative Suite applications
• Demonstrated leadership skills, especially in cross-functional teams
• Strong familiarity with website analytics, such as Google Analytics
• Experience working with senior executives; ability to remain level-headed in high pressure, complex situations
• Evidence of success in areas that require adaptation, analysis, energy and fast paced decision making
• Flexible work hours, when needed, to support colleagues across time zones
