About Operation Restoration:
Operation Restoration (OR) supports women and girls impacted by incarceration to recognize their full potential, restore their lives, and discover new possibilities. At OR, we focus on advocacy, education, economic mobility, and true economic equity for our staff, clients, and community. Our goal is to remove financial incentives for incarceration/ detention to increase investments in social services, education, and healthcare for all people. Incarceration is defined as confinement in prison, jail, immigrant, juvenile or military detention, or a deportation facility. Directly impacted women and girls are those that are or have been incarcerated, arrested, are on probation and/or parole.
About the Position:
Under the direction of the Senior Advisor Quality Care innovator, the Pre-Release Support Coordinator is responsible for administering pre-release needs assessments, coordinating with correctional facilities and community organizations, and managing a caseload of incarcerated clients.
Direct Services Duties and Responsibilities:
● Review TIGER data for incarcerated clients referred to the organization for services
● Administer pre-release needs assessments to determine services and programmatic
needs of women reentering society.
● Identify and refer clients to community resources including housing, wrap around
services for mental health and substance use treatment, public benefits, healthcare, etc.
● Review reentry plans to develop realistic goals and personal action plans to ensure
successful reintegration
● Assist clients with obtaining and completing forms and documents necessary for
transition (i.e. transcripts, birth certificates, state identification, social security cards)
and navigate challenges that having a criminal background will present (i.e.
employment, housing, transportation).
● Serve as a liaison between clients, correctional facilities, community organizations (i.e.
transitional living facilities, parole officer) and family to ensure networks of support are
communicating.
● Build partnerships, utilize existing partnerships and serve as a liaison to other
organizations and employers working on reentry efforts.
● Collect and maintain accurate records in our database to monitor the progress of
program participants which include case notes on well-being check-ins, reentry and
personal action plans, milestone achievements, attendance records, class progress and
employment verification.
● Participate in Operation Social Services team meetings to coordinate information on
clients’ release/parole dates, needs, and updates to the progress and well-being of
clients.
● Implement effective integration strategies for case management, including creating and
implementing care plans with high-risk clients, and keeping accurate records.
● Ensures case management information and data is properly maintained in electronic and
paper files
Advocacy Duties and Responsibilities:
● Measure the effectiveness of OR policy work/initiatives; define and lead change to meet
objectives
● Engage network of public officials, private stakeholders, and community groups to
present OR’s work for dissemination and feedback and to solicit viewpoints to inform
future research and policy work
● Oversee planning and execution of events such as policy breakfasts, symposia, and
roundtables to encourage dialogue and ultimately better policies, programs, and
practices in criminal justice reform
● Manage and participate in advocacy campaigns led by the organization (i.e. Ban the Box,
Unlock Higher Ed, etc.)
● Train and supervise staff and/or interns working on policy research projects
● Represent Operation Restoration at fundraising and community events.
● Develop relationships with community organizations to advance the work of Operation
Restoration
● Collaborate daily with Operation Restoration staff to ensure organizational effectiveness
● Perform miscellaneous job-related duties related to Operation Advocacy, as assigned
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
● Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related field preferred
● Be detailed oriented with strong organizational skills
● Ability to multi-task and problem solve
● Be comfortable taking appropriate initiative
● Combination of training, education, or lived experience working/participating in a
program or organization serving individuals who are system impacted
● Knowledge and/or experience of jail/prison environment and knowledge of the criminal
justice system preferred
● 2-4 years of experience in a non-profit setting that provides social services
● Commitment to criminal justice reform
● Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects at the same time
● Ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of people in a manner that positively
portrays Operation Restoration and its program
● Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing
● Excellent computer skills. Regular use of Microsoft Office and Google products
● Ability to work well with diverse individuals and groups, balance needs and employ
objectivity
● Ability to manage timelines, prioritize multiple products and meet demanding deadlines
● Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team
● Flexibility to meet client needs and organizational changes
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation for the position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Employee benefits include 75% employer-paid medical, 50% employer paid dental and vision, a generous PTO policy, STD, Simple IRA with immediate employer match and 12 paid holidays
