Job Title: Mechanical Drafter II
Reports to: Lead Mechanical Engineer

GENERAL PURPOSE
The Mechanical Drafter will generate detailed engineering change documentation and drawings of production and prototype designs, incorporating input from existing change documentation, CAD models, and direction from engineering staff. The ideal candidate will have experience with PTC CREO and Windchill, GD&T, drawing reviews, configuration management requirements, and preparation of drawings and models for integration into a PLM database such as PTC Windchill.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate across the cross-functional technical team to explain facts, analysis, processes, and practices related to mechanical models and design tasks
- Execute change notices for new releases and revisions or existing products/designs
- Utilize computer aided design software, specifically PTC Creo, to create detailed CAD models and generate detailed drawings of products
- Employ Windchill database software to manage CAD data iterations, BOMs, revisions, releases, and changes per established process procedures
- Create, update, and modify mechanical drawings from existing CAD models using PTC CREO
- Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and manufacturing procedures and instructions.
- Update drawing and procedure revisions with information from existing engineering change documentation
- Generate engineering drawing review documentation and packages
- Prepare computer aided design (CAD) models and drawings for incorporation into an ERP system or PLM database
- Support the technical support and engineering teams
- Survey existing equipment and systems to create as-built drawings for future reference
- Convert existing designs from AutoCAD to PTC CREO format

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
- Have a working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 2009 and ASME Y14.100 drafting standards and ability to apply engineering drafting principles to mechanical and electronic packaging design
- Excellent verbal and documentation skills
- Have a working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Adobe or Photoshop
- Detail-oriented mindset and ability to be flexible as job responsibilities and objectives change
- Experience with working with manufacturing, engineering, and technical staff
- Experience with designing low level test fixturing and using mechanical analysis tools
- Experience using a PLM system to create and implement Engineering Change Orders (ECO)
- Must be capable of working effectively in a team setting while handling personal workload
- This position may require the ability to obtain a DOD security clearance, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
- Associate Degree in Drafting, Industrial Technology, or an Engineering Design Related Technology

EXPERIENCE*
- 3-5 years as Draftsman
- 1 or more years of recent experience using PTC Creo for CAD modeling or 3 or more years with a similar CAD modeling program
- Experience designing manufacturing assembly aids is a plus
- 2D drafting experience of 3D designs preferred
- Experience with 3D modeling is preferred
- Experience in Mechanical design is preferred
- Experience with Windchill a plus
- Proficient in PTC Windchill PLM preferred
- Proficient in PTC Pro Engineer or CREO and Visio preferred
