Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston (OCB) was established in 1969 to offer patients the highest quality eye care and laser/surgical treatment. OCB recently joined forces with Eye Health Services to become the premier eye care provider in the region with nineteen practice locations in the greater Boston area and Cape Cod. In addition, OCB has five affiliated surgery and laser centers. OCB and its affiliates employ 700 employees. We have a great opportunity available for a Credentialing Coordinator in our Boston office.
An ideal Credentialing Specialist is one that is detail-oriented, organized decision-maker with the ability to work both independently and in teams. Strong oral and written communication skills are also essential, as we spend a lot of time communicating with doctors, healthcare administrators, higher education institutions and government officials.
Position summary:
Maintain complete, up-to-date documentation for each OCB physician and surgical centers, including medical licenses, Federal DEA license, and MA state-controlled substance abuse certificates, professional liability insurance policies, hospital staff privileges, reappointments
Onboarding of a new provider, ensuring provider has proper licenses and certificates. Physician/ Optometrist credentialing with insurance carriers and physician organizations.
Using strong research skills to gather pertinent information regarding healthcare facilities and staff
Maintaining online database updated on medical licensing and certification requirements
Auditing paperwork such as applications and licensing documentation for accuracy
Processing appointment requests for hospitals and other healthcare facilities
Understanding current healthcare laws and regulations
Credentialing of insurances and familiarity with PECOS and Medicaid for providers and facilities
Ensuring OCB and Ambulatory Surgical Centers are operating within state and federal regulations
Requirements:
Associates degree required
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Covid Vaccine; must provide Vaccination card prior to start
Computer proficient
Working knowledge of Microsoft office
Experience in credentialing providers is a must
2-3 years of billing experience, including 1 year in health care
