What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Intern position at Opportunities?
This is a temporary position within the Finance Department. The Finance Intern performs a range of general clerical, accounting, and bookkeeping support functions in the finance department. The Finance Intern works in both a team and individual environment on a daily basis to further their knowledge & abilities in the Finance field as well as to provide a real world experience to post secondary students.
This is a part time position with the opportunity to begin employment at the beginning of February and will last through the end of summer.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.
- Collects and submits coupons to merchants for redemption.
- Maintains and updates customer files, including name or address changes, mergers, or mailing attentions.
- Creates reports regarding the current status of customer accounts as requested.
- Assists in generating monthly billing statements based on the general ledger.
- Copies, files, and retrieves materials for accounts receivable as needed.
- Attention to detail and a strong grasp of debits and credits to perform account reconciliations, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education, Training and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Enrolled and actively working towards an Accounting degree or related field required
