JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Finance, the Junior Staff Accountant will perform journal entries relating to daily accounts receivable deposits and perform daily reconciliation of cash deposits in billing system. The Junior Staff Accountant will maintain accounts payable system and account reconciliations relating to accounts payable, process payments of vendor invoices, reconcile PA Sales tax and payments to PA Department of Revenue, Unclaimed Property for patient/payer refunds. May assist in bank reconciliations and related entries as needed, will manage unclaimed property filings to the PA Department of Treasury, assist in projects as assigned related to accounts payable, provide data for the monthly non-purchase order invoice accrual to staff accountant. This will include assisting with any end year end filing of accurate 1099’s.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION:
Education:
• Associates Degree in Accounting or other related business degree preferred and/or experience.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting in related field of accounts payables.
• Must possess proficient Microsoft Office skills.
• Must be able to work independently and efficiently, making good use of time and resources.
• Must possess professional and effective communication skills and be able to promote effective communication at all levels.
Excellent working knowledge of IRS 1099 filing and PA Unclaimed Property filings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepares daily deposit reconciliations within billing system with related journal entries.
• Handles Accounts Payable invoices data entry, non-purchase order invoices and manual check postings from ACH transactions.
• Performs Financial Analysis of Accounts Payable.
• Assists with Project Analysis and year-end review.
• Develops and implements new and/or modified accounting processes and procedures when directed.
· Filing year end 1099’s and PA Unclaimed Property returns
• Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct reports.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be proficient in the English language, both verbally and written, in order to communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians, vendors, and the general public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Long periods of sitting. May require bending and stooping. Fine and gross motor skills and manual dexterity to operate keyboard and other equipment. Frequently works under pressure to meet deadlines or deal with problem situations. Must be able to respond quickly and effectively to meet the organizations’ objectives.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Climate controlled environment with occasional periods of being outside.
