What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wire Room Project Manager position at Opportunities?
The Wire Room Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the Bank’s strategy over all wire payment processing, planning and implementing the business unit’s current and strategic objectives. Accountable for delivering all departmental projects on schedule, within budget, and with internal and external customers’ expected deliverables deployed, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams working on wire payment projects. Projects include developing effective and efficient Wire Room operations that improve the quality of service, are in compliance with all regulations and bank procedures, and that manage fraud and liquidity risks associated with the wire transfer function.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluates wire systems and process, including integration with the Bank’s core system and peripheral systems.
- Performs special projects as needed to address system enhancements and/or limitations, client needs, and new products.
- Proactively directs the development and implement policies and procedures as necessary for fraud, compliance, efficiencies, and/or strategic purposes. Directs system conversions and implementations related to wire activity.
- Hands-on approach to leading high-risk, high-dollar and complex projects, acquisitions and conversions while being backwards compatible to perform QA and Analyst functions when necessary.
- Leads various wire projects of moderate to large scale and complexity. Establishes project goals; develops project plan and schedule; and effectively manages related activities and tasks to drive project to completion.
- Develops, deploys and maintains common set of project management practices, tools and templates for Wire Room project level management.
- Responsible for developing and communicating all portfolio and project status reporting/metrics to all stakeholders (Executives, Sponsors, Management, Project Team Members, Customers).
- Evaluates and analyzes progress, consults with and makes recommendations to senior management on course of action.
- Maintains updated knowledge of the bank’s products and services to ensure staff has accurate and timely product information to enhance wire payments delivery.
- May manage enterprise-level projects, as required.
- Evaluates Wire Contingency Planning and Testing, including electronic systems and geographic considerations and assists in gaps and improvements.
- Works through Disaster Recovery Testing and establish redundancies.
- Works with the Business and Project Managers to ensure communications to sponsor, steering committee, and other project stakeholders are effective.
- Responsible for managing key relationships with Business Subject Matter Experts working on project teams.
- Acts as primary communication conduit and interacts effectively with team members and stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of experience as a project manager and/or program manager and/or portfolio manager
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as strategic leader at a Financial Institution
- Minimum of 10 years of experience required in managing a Wire Department at a Financial Institution with significant daily wire volumes
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience required
- Experience using Microsoft Tools (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, SharePoint, etc.)
- FX wire knowledge preferred
- Significant knowledge of laws and regulations as they apply to wire transfer transactions required
- Expertise in compliance with BSA and a thorough knowledge of OFAC clearance regulations and procedures required
- Ability to clearly communicate scope, expectations, plans, & hold team accountable for project commitments
- Strong presentation skills
