What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accountant position at OpTech LLC?
OpTech is currently seeking motivated individuals to work as an Accountant for our top client located in the Melvindale, MI area!! This can be a hybrid or 100% Remote opportunity.
JOB PURPOSE –
Provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts and preparing financial statements on all operating companies. Understand and update accounting system software and implement necessary system changes to help us use system to its capacity by enhancing our reporting capabilities.
JOB DUTIES –
- Assists Controller in preparation of financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the AS400, general ledger system and from various outside departments in accordance with GAAP and company policy within corporate reporting timelines.
- Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files and accruing appropriate expenses.
- Assists Controller in enhancing our reporting capabilities by setting up and splitting out P&L revenue and expenses into various companies and departments to determine profitability of each cost center.
- Collects data and prepares various month-end reporting and key performance indicators (KPI’s) for reporting to management.
- Assists Controller in reconciling all balance sheet accounts at month-end including all cash and bank accounts ensuring financial records are maintained in compliance with company policy. Review, investigate and resolve accounting errors, discrepancies, and reconciling items.
- Work with Controller and field staff in developing annual budgets and then conduct variance reporting measuring actual results versus budgets for each profit center.
- Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending improvements and changes.
- Create ad-hoc reports and analysis as required. Assist operations in reporting.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS -
- Accounting degree preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (especially Excel-need to know complex formulas, macros, v-lookups, pivot tables)
- PC Proficiency
- AS400 (McCormick Accounting System) proficiency a plus
- GAAP-minimum of 1 year
- Attention to detail
- Very Organized
- Deadline oriented
- Strong verbal and written Communication Skills.

- Monday to Friday - Must be local (Can do hybrid or fully remote)
