POSITION PROFILE:
Optics 1 is looking for an experienced Material Planner in our Bedford, NH office
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
- Develop, maintain, and execute accurate Material Management Plans for multiple programs within the portfolio, ensuring that material is forecasted, ordered, and available on time to meet program needs.
- Assist Program Managers and the Master Planner/Scheduler in maintaining realistic Program Plans across the programs portfolio.
- Regularly communicate status (cost, quality, delivery/availability/use dates, and risk) to organizational stakeholders.
- Conduct in-depth sensitivity/risk analyses of anticipated material flows vs. requirements and program procurement metrics; assist Program Managers in developing and implementing appropriate risk mitigation measures.
- Track Bill of Material (BOM) releases, orders, deliveries and inventory levels to ensure material is available when needed.
- Monitor the schedule of released drawings versus scheduled need for material orders, ensuring that program management is aware of impending slippages and able to adjust resources, timelines, and other factors appropriately.
- Manage programs material inventories; distribute material to programs engineering teams as required for integration and test activities; monitor inventory levels to ensure material shortages are anticipated well ahead of realization.
- Place purchase requisitions with buyers, ensuring completeness of requirements flowdown and helping secure necessary signature approvals.
- Monitor vendor progress and delivery of material and services, once ordered; verify receipt and completeness of material/service order;
- Work with Quality and Supply Chain Engineering to document the disposition of program material found discrepant or non-compliant with specifications.
- Facilitate shipping and tracking of materials out of the facility for rework (RMA), modification, outside services, or delivery to an affiliate or customer.
- Respond to data requests to include program queries and internal/government audits, with properly documented responses.
- Derive insights from current operations to recommend process, compliance, quality, and organizational improvements in all phases of Programs Material Management; work with key stakeholders across the organization to help streamline infrastructure for further growth.
- Other duties and responsibilities assigned, as may be required by the Company.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience in material management, including material/service planning, inventory management, and schedule administration.
- Proficient in data analysis, organization, and presentation using Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and execute multiple unrelated tasks and to clearly communicate task status with others, verbally and in writing.
- Must be a self-starter, able to work with little supervision and thrive in a deadline driven, fast-paced environment; proactive, systematic, and detail-oriented in addressing challenges; passionate for accelerating success and driving change.
- Willingness to learn company MRP/ERP systems as required for materials planning, monitoring and reporting.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- US Citizenship.
IDEALLY, YOU’LL ALSO HAVE:
- Experience in managing material for programs involved with the development and introduction of new products.
- Experience working in technology-intensive environments.
- Strong Earned Value and Financial Management skills, including Material EAC’s and Material Forecasting.
- Experience in USG DoD-type acquisitions and contracting.
- Understanding of ITAR regulations and import/export regulations.
- Experience working in a multi-national, multi-customer environment.
