About this position
This position is responsible for transporting food from Options for Learning’s central kitchen to center-based sites. We are looking for someone with an upbeat, positive attitude who is eager to support the organization’s mission and achieve its strategic goals.
What you’ll be doing
- Maintaining organization van in clean operating condition and notifying the nutrition center manager of the need for repair or servicing;
- Driving organization van in a safe, responsible manner;
- Sorting and packing food for centers;
- Reading and implementing all organization and program policies and procedures;
- Accurately completing all assigned paperwork and documentation on a timely basis, according to organization policies and procedures;
- Working effectively with team members;
- Actively participating in in-service training;
- Using sensitivity and good judgment when interacting with children, parents, and staff;
- Preparing and maintaining transport records, per Nutrition Program requirements;
- Accepting delivery of food as needed;
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment;
- Following basic health standards regarding the handling of food;
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table
- Ability to organize work schedule for maximum use of time;
- Ability to lift and stack heavy cartons (up to 25 pounds);
- Must meet the requirements of the organization’s automobile insurance company;
- Five years of driving experience;
- Ability to communicate in written and oral English correctly and effectively;
- A California driver’s license, daily use of an automobile, and automobile liability insurance;
- One year of experience driving a van or truck (preferred).

Job specifications
- Reports to the nutrition center manager;
- Full-time, 10-month work year;
- Limited evening or weekend hours may be required;
- Employment, responsibilities, compensation and other factors may be affected by changes in governmental regulations, the organization’s contracts, or at organization discretion.
Salary
- $17.80 to $18.69 per hour
