Estimator / Inside Sales

HMT is looking for an Estimator to join our team! The Estimator will be responsible for delivering estimates and proposals to our Sales and Project Management teams in a timely and efficient manner.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist Sales and Project Management teams with sales of HMT Products

Manage information gathering to provide proposal or budgetary estimate

  • Review bid documents/RFP/RFQ to determine project requirements
  • Complete product cost estimates (cost books, RFQ in POS, etc.)
  • Obtain custom pricing on non-standard items (from Technical Services, Blackwell, etc.)
  • Check Material Requirements Lists for accuracy
  • Obtain freight quotes as requested (weights/dimensions from HMT DC, freight quotes from vendors)
  • Obtain installation time estimates as needed
  • Create Proposal Workup Sheet to centralize cost information and assess pricing/margin decisions

Create proposals based on standard templates, with situational customization to highlight key differentiators

  • Get familiar with all the templates (Seals, PM products, 1000, Unideck, FC, Dome, RC, Steel Fabricated Products)
  • Understand all the elements in the proposal (why they are there, when use them, when to eliminate)
  • Understand effective ways to customize
  • Know the questions to ask to create opportunities to consult / customize
  • Know the approvals required and compliance safeguards
  • Keep HMT Proposal Log and files up to date
  • Assist in follow up on proposals as requested by Contractor Sales team
  • Respond to customer requests for clarification as needed

Responsible for accurate and timely execution of job setup and transactions within the HMT system

Set up new jobs

  • Assign new job numbers in Job Log
  • Set up new jobs in Solomon (job numbers, budgets)
  • Set up new jobs in POS system
  • Keep job files up to date and complete

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 1-2 years related estimating experience
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
  • Salesforce and Solomon experience is preferred
  • Excellent written and communication skills
