The Administrative Fire Captain (Temporary Assignment) recruitment is an Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) internal recruitment. Only applications from current, non-probationary OCFA Fire Captain personnel will be considered. The OCFA Division 1 is recruiting non-probationary Fire Captains to fill a temporary assignment vacancy.
WORK SCHEDULE
Division Administrative Fire Captains work either a 9/80 or 4/10 work schedule, at the discretion of the Division Chief.
ADDITIONAL PAY
Division Administrative Fire Captains are eligible for 7.5% Staff Assignment Pay (SAP) and/or 10% Staff Incentive Pay (SIP). Please refer to the IAFF - Local 3631 MOU Page 105 - Article XXIV, Section 2, (I) for additional information. Division Administrative Fire Captains have the use of an authority vehicle and work directly with the respective Division Chief. - Under the direction of the Division Chief, serve as a liaison with city, county, and state officials as directed.
- Represent the OCFA at various meetings and public events.
- Assist in planning, directing, and coordinating a variety of programs and activities.
- Research, analyze, and interpret technical data.
- Prepare written staff reports and oral presentations covering a variety of policy and procedural issues.
- Staff the Department Operations Center (DOC) during major incidents.
- Other miscellaneous administrative duties as necessary or required.
Division Administrative Fire Captains have the opportunity to participate in the following programs:
- Department Safety Officer and participate in the on-call program
- Rank of Fire Captain (non-probationary status) with the OCFA
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with others
- Strong written communication and computer skills
