What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician position at Orange County Government?
The Orange County Health Department has an opening for a Laboratory Technician. An employee of this class is primarily responsible for collecting, documenting and processing samples and specimens of patients and employees, documenting results, and maintaining equipment.
Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Public Health Nurse Supervisor I with some leeway to exercise independent judgment in determining positive and negative test results and performing job duties. Supervision is not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from High School or possession of a General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency AND one (1) year of working experience in a laboratory or working experience in performing nursing functions or on the job education and training in laboratory science.
Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
All offers of employment are conditional upon successful clearance of a background check and pre-employment drug testing. Employment cannot commence until the employee has been cleared.

Pay: $33,823.00 - $38,051.00 per year
