Orange East Supervisory Union, which serves Bradford Elementary School, Blue Mountain Union School, Newbury Elementary School, Oxbow Middle/High School, River Bend Career and Technical Center, Thetford Elementary School and Waits River Valley School, is seeking to hire an Engagement Specialist starting with the 2024-2025 school year. This is a grant funded position. As a member of the Social-Emotional and Behavioral Health team, the Engagement Specialist seeks to Enhance school engagement by cultivating a love of learning for students through strong reciprocal partnerships between schools, community-based agencies, and their parents/caregivers. This position is a multi-faced professional position drawing on multiple disciplines, including community health, social work, psychology, counseling, as well as education, and is responsible for supporting the development of linked learning opportunities through our community partnerships.
Performance Responsibilities-Work closely with the Student Support Teams/Educational Support Teams (SST/EST) and other school-based staff to promote a collaborative and interdepartmental, student-focused partnership.-Conduct home visits to support students and families who are at risk of disengagement from school.-Perform outreach duties to increase awareness and access to learning opportunities within the communities that support OESU for all students-In collaboration with school personnel, implement and coordinate outreach strategies that enhance linked learning opportunities for all students-Assist with annual student engagement and outreach activities. -Assist with the planning and coordination of on-campus student success initiatives, such as Families and Schools Together (FAST) as well as student success workshops and events, as well as outreach events, including campus tours, family evenings, and open houses. -Collaborate with other departments and off-campus agencies in the identification of programming opportunities to include public agencies, businesses, and other community stakeholders. -Identify and problem-solve barriers to accessing linked learning opportunities for students and families.
- Establish and maintain a system for tracking potential student enrollment in programming, both enrichment and intervention. -Prepare reports, materials, and presentations for program use and implementation. -Establish and maintain a system of follow-up, through personal contact and correspondence with students to encourage success. -Document student visits and maintain appropriate files.
