Seeking a dynamic individual with a deep commitment to improving student achievement to coordinate, administer, and monitor comprehensive extended learning programs for students in the Orange Southwest School District. The Extended Learning Coordinator will implement and support student learning through extended learning opportunities including Before School, After School, Tutoring and Summer Programs for grades K-12. This is a full-time position. The Extended Learning Coordinator will coordinate before and after school and summer programs. The Coordinator is responsible for both the academic and the social and emotional elements of the extended learning programs. They will ensure that the programs directly support student academic progress. Responsibilities will include leading program planning, recruitment of students, staffing, coordination of transportation, staff training and professional development, observation of programs and providing reporting regarding the effectiveness of programs. Roles and responsibilities include:
- Assists principals and leadership team in the planning, development, and administration of Extended Learning opportunities.
- Oversees the development and implementation of before school, after school, and summer school programs and other extended learning opportunities to increase student achievement, mastery of Common Core State Standards, and social and emotional skills.
- Provides leadership, supervision and accountability for extended learning programs, including educational programming, enrollment, curriculum, assessment, behavior management, and staffing.
- Manages district extended learning staff, develops priorities, and assigns tasks and projects; develops staff skills, evaluates performance, and trains staff on extended learning programs, policies and strategies.
- Meets regularly with staff to discuss and resolve priorities, workload, critical concerns and technical issues; assures that appropriate services are provided, and goals are defined and achieved.
- Ensures collection of critical progress monitoring data in extended learning programs; uses academic and operational data to drive continuous improvement in program effectiveness.
- Ensures alignment of extended learning programs with grade level standards and Common Core State Standards, and best practices in formative assessment and with regular school day/year instruction.
- Assists in writing and managing grants to support Extended Learning.
- Provides primary oversight and management of Extended Learning grant funding.
- Observes programs and provides data and reporting to ensure compliance with Extended Learning Grants.
- Monitors compliance of program operations, budget, and spending.
- Ensures that all programs are clearly aligned to school improvement ends and supports the district strategic plan.
- Experience in the management and delivery of Extended Learning Opportunities such as Homework Clubs, After School Programs, and/or Summer Programs.
- Ability to write and manage federal, local, and state grants.
- Experience using academic data to plan instruction to improve student outcomes.
- Ability to communicate, both in writing and orally, technical information in a way that is understandable to people without technical training.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff at all levels.
- Ability to plan and manage multiple programs simultaneously.
- Knowledge of current research regarding effective Extended Learning Programs.
- Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)
- Knowledge of Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards and 21st Century Skills.
- Ability to manage and maintain compliance with all licensing regulations for Afterschool Child Care Programs.
