LOCATION: North Las Vegas, NV

 

SALARY RANGE: $137,654.40 - $213,366.40

 

PURPOSE:MSTS is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer for Maintenance and Reliability to support the Indirect Maintenance Division within the Maintenance and Critical Site Infrastructure (MCSI) Directorate. This position is located at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) in Mercury, NV.  The position reports directly to the Division Manager of Indirect Maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and lead a predictive maintenance program including vibration analysis, infrared, acoustic sound imaging, motor testing, and oil analysis.
  • Guides and coordinates the efforts of organizations to increase reliability and maintainability of equipment and refine maintenance processes.
  • Develop management strategy for programmatic managing assigned systems within CMMS ensuring compliance with applicable standards, policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for improving/automating operations and maintenance tasks to provide optimal performance.
  • Provides day-to-day engineering support to operations and maintenance issues.
  • Streamline data capture/reporting of key performance indicators for asset management principles including availability, downtime, and schedule compliance.
  • Develop and monitor implementation of the predictive maintenance plan.
  • Perform analysis of equipment histories, maintenance costs and system failures and develop a refined asset management strategy.
  • Review and recommend actions for designs and implementation of new installations.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements in process, procedure, systems, and infrastructure.
  • Facilitate failure modes and effects analysis.
  • Develop and present oral/written reports/recommendations within the areas of assigned responsibility and provide in-depth knowledge of the methods, tools and techniques used to manage assigned facility systems.
  • Benchmark processes and performance with other industry information and recommend actions.
  • Specify repair and operation steps where necessary.
  • Review productivity index and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in system design ensuring reliability and maintainability are addressed.
  • Provide training for work tasks and system operation.

Qualifications

Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

 

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Minimum Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) required for Civil, Mechanical and Electrical engineering degrees;
    • Or, Calculus-based STEM bachelor’s degree in engineering;
    • Or, for Architects, Certification from the National Council or Architectural Registration Board (NCARB)
    • Or Professional Engineer license
  • Plus at least 14 years’ relevant experience. Skill building experience must demonstrate either deeper technical specialization or additional cross-disciplinary knowledge; graduate research experience may be recognized.

  • Skill, tact, diplomacy and proficiency in working with all levels of staff to maximize overall group effectiveness and meet organizational goals.
  • Builds positive/effective relationships with clients and co-workers and demonstrates focus on satisfying both internal and external customers.
  • Influences and motivates others positively.
  • Stays current with advancements in the Asset Management field.
  • Computerized Maintenance Management System Experience (IBM Maximo preferred).
  • Shows commitment to safe work practices and established standards and procedures.  Accepts responsibility for own safety as well as that of others.
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

 

Additional Information

  • The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada) with some work occasionally performed at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday-Thursday (subject to change).
  • Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.

  • Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a federal background investigation, and subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”
  • Eligibility Requirements – To obtain a clearance, an individual must be a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security.”
