Orbital Engineering is currently seeking a Designer with experience in developing as-built piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) using CAD software. The position requires experience in heavy industrial engineering projects—preferably in the refining industry and will be based in Trainer, PA. This position requires at least 50% field work outdoors in a heavy industrial environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform field walkdowns to validate existing P&ID content. Prepare redlines of any discrepancies.
- Incorporate field markups into plant P&IDs.
- Participate in internal coordination meetings for progress review and planning.
- Participate in MOC meetings with the client.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- 5 years of related P&ID experience including knowledge of ISA 5.1 symbology
- Specialized courses or certification in drafting, design and engineering practices
- Proficiency with AutoCAD required
- TWIC Card holder or ability to obtain TWIC Card upon employment
- Must be comfortable and physically capable of working outdoors in extreme (or adverse) weather conditions. Must be comfortable accessing/working from heights of anywhere from 10’ to 100’. Must be able to pass a fit for duty test
- Must be willing to adhere to site safety procedures including, not limited to: PPE requirements (FRC, Hard Hat, Safety Shoes, Hearing Protection, etc.) and ability to pass site specific/PSM safety courses as prerequisite to employment
- Experience with heavy industrial equipment and/or heavy industrial facilities
- Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate with engineering disciplines to ensure overall design accuracy
- Must excel in working in a team environment
- Extremely self-motivated with high attention to detail
Preferred Requirement:
- Associates degree with an emphasis in industrial drafting/design
