Engineering Department Manager Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking an Engineering Department Manager Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution to support our Utility Services group in our Hammond, IN office.

Responsibilities include :

• Management of natural gas engineering and design transmission and distribution projects to meet proposed schedule and budget targets
• Provide leadership for engineering, design and field personnel supporting the natural gas projects
• Manage the natural gas T&D department budget and align with the established business plan
• Assure engineering and design compliance with natural gas standards and codes
• Develop, review and approve client proposals for engineering, design and field support services
• Lead and monitor safe work practices for engineering, design and field staff
• Provide technical oversight for natural gas piping stress, flow and pressure calculations
• Provide technical oversight for natural gas meter and regulator stations and associated facilities
• Oversee quality control of engineering deliverables including drawings, scopes of work and specifications
• Develop relationships and coordinate activities with internal and external clients
• Supervise equipment and construction estimating efforts to support client TIC budgeting
• Review staff timesheets and expense reports for accuracy
• Comply with client requirements for budget forecasting
• Manage staff performance reviews
• Attend weekly management meetings and report on department performance
• Travel to client sites and company meetings on an as needed basis

Required Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering curriculum from a 4 year ABET accredited college or university
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• 10 years of Natural Gas engineering work experience

Preferred Qualifications :

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Documented engineering management experience
• Liquified Natural Gas, Underground Storage and Propane Operations experience
