What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at Orbital Engineering?
Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to be an integral part of our Finance Department based in our Corporate office in Pittsburgh. This position will have the potential for a hybrid schedule after training has been completed.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and submit customer invoices and record accounting/financial transactions in the accounting software.
- Apply AR payments to customer accounts and follow up on aged invoices.
- Communicate with employees to effectively resolve billing-related matters in a timely manner.
- Research and respond to customer and vendor inquiries.
- Assist with internal audit functions, including employee expense and leased vehicle audits.
- Manage corporate leased vehicle program, including monthly usage/charging analysis, new vehicle requests, and monitoring maintenance notifications.
- Maintain accounting files and scan/prepare documentation for processing, as needed.
- Assist with reporting, monthly closing process, and special projects.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Competency in MS Office.
- Aptitude for numbers.
- Ability to perform record keeping tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret documents.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail, self-motivated and well-organized
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or equivalent from an accredited university
- Experience with billing or accounts receivable
- Familiarity with Deltek Vantagepoint
