Orchard is looking for an experienced PR Manager to secure strategic local print, online and broadcast press for Orchard in key North America markets. Your primary goal will be to increase awareness, consideration and affinity among homeowners and buyers through earned media. In this role you will play a critical part in telling stories that inspire and delight homebuyers and designing press-ready campaigns that drive coverage. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of pitching and landing feature stories and broadcast segments (particularly in local media) and feels comfortable getting onto a phone call with a journalist or executive.
This is a full time role that will report into the Director of Communications in New York City. You will be expected to be in-office in our beautiful lower Manhattan HQ on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and have the flexibility of working from anywhere the rest of the week.
What You’ll Do Here:
Establish and cultivate relationships with local journalists and producers in key Orchard markets
Collaborate across teams to uncover PR opportunities, craft angles and write pitches that will resonate with reporters
Assist in drafting press materials including press releases, briefing docs, executive quotes and awards submissions
Maintain and expand media lists of real estate, tech, and consumer-focused journalists
Assist with daily media monitoring, including updating a PR tracking spreadsheet, highlighting corrections that need to be made, spotting trends, and keeping ahead of competitor news. You will drive weekly and monthly reporting for key media mentions
We’d Love to Hear From You if You Have:
4 years of experience driving earned media and coverage for a consumer-facing brand either in-house, at a PR agency, or a combination of both. This role requires strong media relations, writing and storytelling skills
An ability to identify story hooks and a clear understanding of what is newsworthy. You should understand the importance of a well-researched, tailored pitch and be relentless about getting in front of the right people to deliver your message
You should be able to move quickly to capitalize on PR opportunities and work collaboratively with other teams to quickly pull data and press-ready quotes
You work quickly and thoughtfully, and are comfortable with a high level of autonomy
