Oregon City High School is a comprehensive high school with approximately 2,000 students, located in the suburban Portland/Metro area. We are looking for high-energy and creative educators that will continue our collective focus on engaging all learners at high levels, while building students' foundations for the 21st century. We are an AVID Certified school and are also working with the Center for High School Success with a focus on ninth grade success. Position Description:
- Teach 3 periods per day Plan and instruct content specific co-taught courses and/or a Student Skills Seminar Course for students to obtain their Specifically Designed Instruction (grades 9-12)
- Collaborate with department, building, district, and community stakeholders to develop IEPs designed to promote students’ educational, physical, and social/emotional development
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and outside professional agencies
- Case manage and coordinate the IEP process for all students on caseload
- Plan goals, program, and support based on grade-level standards that are meaningful and differentiated to meet students’ individual needs
- Maintain and provide reasonable and meaningful student grading, progress monitoring and evaluation consistent with school and district policy and regularly and effectively communicate such information to students and parents
- Schedule and manage the activities of Instructional Assistants
- Communicate with and support general education teachers in regards to specific IEP needs of students, effective accommodations, modifications, and help ensure students are receiving support as identified on the IEP
- Serve as an expert resource on the application of Special Education law under IDEA in the classroom and appropriate instructional strategies
- Maintain student records as required by the District and/or the school
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Candidate Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Oregon teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education
- Enthusiasm for learning and implementing new strategies, including: AVID, WICOR, group work, culturally responsive teaching
- Knowledge of high leverage instructional strategies
- Ability to create a student-centered classroom
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of each student and implement a variety of assessment strategies
- Ability to provide a safe, culturally responsive learning environment
- Knowledge of social and emotional needs of high school students
- Interest in becoming involved in the whole OCHS community
This position is 1.0 FTE.
