Learning Specialist - Structured Learning Center

Position Description: Oregon City High School is looking for a dynamic educator who enjoys working with students with learning disabilities; has a thorough understanding of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. A teacher who is dedicated to differentiating instruction and providing support so that students are meeting their individual goals. Students in the SLC focus on academic, social, personal, employment, community and transitional skills. The OCHS Structured Learning Center is designed to provide students with the skills that they need to be a contributing citizen in our community. Students in the SLC are in grades 9-12 and are on a modified diploma track. After graduating from OCHS, students in the SLC program will continue their education in our school district’s post-high transition program. Special Requirements: (Certification, training, specialty skills or previous experience) 1. Valid Oregon teaching license appropriate to the assignment. 2. Special Education endorsement required. 3. Previous experience in teaching students with disabilities preferred, but not required. 4. Bilingual applicants desired, but not required. 5. Must demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality. 6. Familiarity with augmentative communication systems. 7. Aware of assistive technology options. 8. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. 9. Skilled at developing and implementing behavior support plans. This position is 1.0 FTE.
