What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodial Porter position at Oregon Metro?

Custodial Porters play an important role in keeping the public and non-public facing areas clean, stocked and available to use for our employees and guests. This position provides a great opportunity to have fun in a team environment, showcase your guest service skills and expand your skillset.
Schedules vary based on weather and events at the zoo. Hours increase during Zoolights, school breaks, holidays and summer season. We are currently looking for applicants who are available to work at least four days per week.

As a Custodial Porter you will do:
- Patrol and clean restrooms and other buildings throughout the grounds
- Perform miscellaneous duties around storage yards and buildings including; load and unloads trucks; store materials; wash and fill trucks with gasoline, use pressure equipment to wash down areas
- Replenish supplies for building areas
- Empty garbage and recycling bins as needed
- Provides directions and other general assistance to public
- Alert staff to any problems that may need attention
- Excellent customer services skills; the ability to deal courteously with the public and to develop and maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees and the public Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to walk, stand and work on concrete surfaces for extended periods of time Comfort working outdoors in heat, cold and inclement weather
- Availability to work irregular hours, including holidays, evenings and weekends
- Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and up to 80 pounds occasionally

- Must be at least 18 years old
- Any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the classification duties and responsibilities
