What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Recovery Mentor, Nurture Oregon Program position at Oregon Washington health Network (OWhN)?
Certified Recovery Mentor | Peer Support Specialist
Bilingual Individuals Encouraged to Apply!
The Organization: Oregon Washington health Network (OWhN) is a growing non-profit agency based in Pendleton, Oregon, with services in Hermiston and Milton Freewater. It is our mission to integrate physical, mental, behavioral and public health services to improve health outcomes and health equity focusing on access, quality, and cost effectiveness.
It is the vision of the 10-member organizations of the Network that the citizens of Umatilla, Union, Morrow & Walla Walla counties be the healthiest in our two state region.
The Position: We are currently looking to fill a full-time Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) position to help provide services in our Nurture Oregon program, based out of Pendleton, with support in Hermiston, and Milton Freewater. The funding for this position offers mentoring support to individuals as someone who has similar life experiences and acts as a role model of a person in recovery. The CRM draws on their own personal lived experiences to motivate and assist identified clients to act on their own behalf and to support their own self-directed recovery path. Work within a multi-disciplinary team, in accordance with each client’s individualized treatment plan, to assist individuals in accessing resources, addressing barriers related to their substance use and/or mental health, developing perspective and skills that promote recovery. This work occurs both in the office and a variety of community settings to include home settings, emergency departments and jails. OWhN aims to provide low-barrier entry for all individuals and families that need assistance with behavioral health, whatever those circumstances are, to support recovery on the full continuum: harm reduction to abstinence. The pay range we’re offering will be dependent on the experience and education/training of the successful candidate.
More on this role specific to the Nurture Oregon program:
This position provides vital connection, engagement, and support to the enrolled mother. They provide strength-based supports to those with addictions and those in recovery from substance use disorder. The position offers outreach to clients to engage them in services, checks on them throughout their journeys, and engages with them for peer supportive services based on their lived experience and education around recovery and child care. Due to the nature of this program, consideration for this position is that the CRM is culturally specific to the lived experience of also having used while pregnant. We support that this helps the mother in this situation feel the most comfortable and likely to engage with services if they have someone they know has been through the same thing. This position should also be well versed with American Society of Addiction Medicine assessments and while they themselves would not necessarily be the one to treatment plan the individual, they should also be knowledgeable of what an appropriate treatment plan looks like, so they can work with the client and the clients' clinician (the CADC, LCSW, or MSW) as needs assessments change. The peer should meet the requirements of, and pass, the test to obtain the Certified Recovery Mentor certificate as approved by the Mental Health and Addiction Certification Board of Oregon.
