Assistant Professor of Biology

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary:
The Department of Biological Sciences at Colorado Mesa University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position beginning in August 2025.

We seek applications from candidates from a broad range of fields within vertebrate anatomy and physiology and welcome all applicants with a passion for undergraduate teaching. Candidates whose area of expertise is complementary to the existing strengths of the department will be given special consideration.

Teaching responsibilities will include human anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology and introduction to biology for majors. Depending upon expertise, there is also potential for the new hire to teach anatomy at the 400 and 500 level and upper-division courses within the candidate’s specialty.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.Other related duties may be assigned.
  • Effectively teach 12 credit hours of biology lecture and laboratory courses per semester.
  • Conduct scholarship in the discipline that involves undergraduate students. 
  • Serve the department, university, community, and profession.

Minimum Qualifications Required:
  • Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related field is required at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience teaching college-level biology courses.
  • Postdoctoral experience.
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate researchers.
