The Software Development Lead will act as both an architect and expert-level software developer within Technology, Operations and Development, who communicates throughout the entire businesses to design and execute solutions across a diverse technology team. The right person for this role will be highly technical and analytical, often acting as a designer, developer and communicator. Position is based in Charlotte, North Carolina. The ideal candidate is equally obsessed with delivering the best possible customer experiences and leading and building strong teams. Including communicating effectively with engineers, partners, leaders and a broad set of stakeholders. This leader will be able to think long-term, advocate for strong engineering excellence, and bring in their own software development best practices as well as follow best practices from the broader development community. RESPONSIBILITIES: Solutions. Participation in software design decisions, defining enterprise software architecture strategy End-to-end product development Participate in daily activities in the form of transferring business requirements into functional requirements. Connects the development team, the end user and the product. Participate in daily or weekly briefing, Identifying current issues and the evaluation of the current state of the product. Including creation of Functional Requirement Documents. Creation of wireframes or  initial system sketches and mockups to see the framework and visually understand whether all use cases and functionalities are covered. Documentation, creating APIs, creating a database and often researching new technologies Proof of concept — so that developers become efficient as soon as possible and do not worry too much about project documentation and external services documentation Working with developers and  participating in the more complex tasks, with the emphasis on ensuring that the task is successfully understood, and that the resulting outputs are known. This item sometimes includes writing code, pseudocode, auxiliary diagrams, and giving exact examples. Production support of distributed systems, including database architecture MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Eight (8) years of software development experience including experience as a development leader or manager building and leading strong development teams. Minimum education and experience required can be substituted with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge skills and abilities. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or a related field. A deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, and a track record of shipping software on time. Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. Ability to architect new end-to-end solutions. Deep hands-on technical expertise; prior experience as a software developer or software development manager preferred Solid software development background including design patterns, data structures, test driven development. In-depth working knowledge in a technology domain such as distributed internet-scale web applications, DevOps, Serverless, Big Data, Analytics, Machine Learning, high-performance databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), complex networking implementations, highly secured workloads. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. Ten (10) years of Software Development experience, including five (5) years of experience as a development leader or manager building and leading strong development teams. A passion for people management and mentorship. Deep knowledge of Infrastructure Security, Security Compliance and Operations. Deep Knowledge of distributed systems, solutions, and database architecture.
