JOB DESCRIPTION: COORDINATOR
Definition:
Under direct supervision of Before and After School Club’s (B/ASC) Director or their designee, the
Coordinator will assist with activities as outlined below:
I. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY a. PROGRAM
1. Follows B/ASC procedures and methods of operation.
2. Conforms with district and school standards, rules, and procedures.
3. Follows directives of the Director/Assistant Director in carrying out planned activities.
4. Independently plans, prepares, and leads activities according to specialty area a. Plans and submits monthly activity calendar to Director. b. Prepares materials for project in advance. c. Leads activity with group of children, insuring proper use of materials and appropriate cleanup.
5. Supervises students in play activities by: a. Participating with children in group games. b. Enforcing safety rules. c. Intervening when children are likely to injure themselves or others. d. Remaining with children at all times.
6. Monitors B/ASC boundaries by keeping students within sight and hearing distance at all times.
7. Supervises restrooms.
8. Encourages student responsibility.
9. Supervises and disciplines students with consistency and good judgment.
10. Prepares nutritious snacks and assists with snack service.
11. Communicates with Director / Assistant Director regarding difficult individual child behavior or other areas of concern.
12. Assists the Director / Assistant Director as needed. b. STAFF DEVELOPMENT
1. Attends and participates in scheduled staff meetings.
2. Prior to employment, attends and participates in staff training sessions. c. SAFETY
1. Is familiar with school earthquake, fire, and first aid procedures and policies
2. Notifies Director / school personnel in case of an on site accident and promptly completes required accident forms.
II. PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES a. Serves as a positive role model for students in behavior and speech. b. Practices confidentiality in matters involving students, parents, teachers, and B/ASC staff. c. Represents OUSD, B/ASC and Parents’ Club in a professional manner. d. Demonstrates dependability and reliability in arriving for work and on the job. e. Demonstrates patience, sound judgment, and a warm and loving attitude. f. Meets and upholds performance expectations as outlined in employee conduct guidelines.
III. QUALIFICATIONS a. Must be 18 years old. b. Minimum of one year experience working with children in group setting. c. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with staff, children, and parents. d. Ability to follow established procedures in a consistent manner. e. Ability to independently plan and carry out activities. f. Knowledge of techniques for managing groups of children. g. Ability to work as a team player. h. Current first aid certification required within three months of hire. i. Current negative TB screening required. j. Fingerprints required to be on file at OUSD office.
