Company Description: Our law firm client: Established in 1971, a Roseland, NJ-based law firm specializing in public finance, redevelopment, land use, litigation, alternative dispute resolution, restructuring, and bankruptcy.
Are you an experienced paralegal with a passion for property tax appeals and general litigation? Our client is currently seeking a dynamic individual to join their team and contribute to various firm-related work, including public and private entity representation, redevelopment, finance, and transactional matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with attorneys to prepare legal documents such as discovery responses, answers, counterclaims, status letters, and similar correspondences for the court, including the Tax Court of New Jersey.
- Draft a variety of legal documents, including motions, briefs, contracts, and complaints.
- Navigate and comprehend the NJ Courts Online E-File system proficiently.
- Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and closings.
- Conduct legal research on various issues, including litigation practices and procedures.
- Prepare Tables of Contents (TOC) and Tables of Authorities (TOA) as necessary for briefs and other contracts.
- Maintain effective communication with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a litigation paralegal.
- Possession of a paralegal certificate or a college degree in paralegal studies.
- Demonstrated proficiency in litigation skills, including e-filing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for document proofreading.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize assignments effectively.
- Experience with NetDocs (or other DMS), Microsoft Office, and Adobe PDF.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
While prior experience with New Jersey property tax appeal litigation is preferred, it is not required.
