Position Summary
Under the leadership of the School Principal, the Instructional Coach provides support and guidance to enhance teachers' instructional practices and improve student learning outcomes. This position will work with school administration and staff to identify professional development needs and learning opportunities. This individual will support the staff in effectively establishing, measuring, and meeting student achievement targets.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Conducts classroom observations to assess teaching practices; Provide constructive and actionable feedback to teachers based on observations that correlate with the school’s program and the district’s framework;
Develops, revises, and refines curriculum in accordance with aims and goals of the school district through identified processes and/or as directed;
Analyzes student performance data and assessment results to identify areas for improvement; Work with teachers to develop strategies for addressing student learning needs.
Identifies curriculum resources needed, including textbooks, supplies, materials, equipment in addition to participating in recommendations for their selection, including chairing textbook adoption committees; Assists staff in understanding and implementing the curriculum;
Acts as an instructional leader in a curriculum area (or curricula areas), as well as a major resource to administrators, department heads, team leaders, chairpersons and teachers on theory practice and trends in content areas;
Develops and evaluates educational goals and objectives through the progress of students and variables that affect performance such as economic conditions, program and staff development needs, and other factors;
Ensures consistent system-wide implementation, maintenance and support of programs and supports instruction while serving as a monitor, consultant/advisor, observer, demonstrator and change agent;
Assists in the facilitation and presentation of professional development activities based upon the school’s program;
Assists in the administration, disaggregation and interpretation of assessment data to “build capacity” of staff and makes recommendations to teachers and school-site administrator(s) for modification of instructional strategies to improve student performance;
Remains knowledgeable of national, state, and local content standards and benchmarks;
Assists teachers in the development of remediation plans and intervention strategies for students who are not achieving appropriate benchmarks and to monitor the quality of these plans;
Keeps documentation of school-wide-related activities;
Guides and supports staff in the effective use of appropriate technology in instruction;
Facilitates parental/community involvement for programs via workshops, family activities, etc;
Assists school-site administrators in securing, maintaining, and distributing appropriate inventories of instructional materials essential to the school’s program;
Develops implements and monitors activities that are designed to increase student achievement; and
