Position Summary
Orr Group is seeking a results-driven Human Resources professional to join our team. This director-level role will oversee the human resources function at Orr Group, including recruitment; orientation and onboarding; employee engagement and recognition; performance management and goal setting; benefits and total rewards; compliance; and employee development. Reporting to the Chief Strategy & Operating Officer (CSOO), the role will collaborate with and lead the People & Culture team and strategically partner with leaders across the organization to support the evolving organizational needs and priorities as our rapid growth continues.
Responsibilities
- People & Culture Leadership
- Lead Orr Group’s people function, driving Orr Group’s talent acquisition, management, growth, and retention. Plan, develop, coordinate, and implement policies, processes, trainings, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization’s people and culture strategy and compliance needs.
- Oversee the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to: compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Collaborate with the Executive Team to support the advancement of people and organizational culture in alignment with the firm’s strategic plan.
- In partnership with the CSOO, develop and implement a plan to establish a people management program at Orr Group, including:
- Identify training programs for managers that align with and support management ethos; ensure all people managers participate in training program.
- Develop people manager roles and responsibilities and develop guides, tools, and other resources needed for both managers and direct reports.
- Ensure organizational systems, policies, and procedures are updated to reflect establishment of people management program.
- Oversee People & Culture team (which currently includes one Payroll & Benefits Coordinator).
- Talent Acquisition and Management
- Partner with senior leadership to proactively identify staffing needs across all departments and define recruiting plans.
- Oversee management of our inbound recruiting and employee referral program.
- Oversee all full-cycle recruiting responsibilities from working with hiring managers to carefully defining roles and managing the hiring process.
- Continually improve onboarding and orientation activities.
- Partner with our finance team to sustain a competitive benefits program.
- Serve as a trusted resource for all staff deepening employee engagement and satisfaction.
- Performance Management & Leadership Development
- Manage overall performance management cycles, including promotions, performance reviews, goal setting, and developing career paths across all areas of the firm.
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers (once established) and leadership on retention, compensation, employee relations, and performance improvement plans.
- Manage compensation benchmarking with mid-year and annual performance review programs.
- Advise and train managers (once established) on their leadership effectiveness and how to employ various techniques, including conflict resolution, team building, professional development, role & responsibility clarity, and performance management.
- Respond to and own resolution of all employee-related incidents, consulting with leaders, managers (once established), and employees.
- Administration
- Conduct research and analysis of organizational trends including review of reports and metrics from the organization’s human resource information system (HRIS) or talent management system.
- Monitor and ensure the organization’s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review and modify policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law, applying this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to leadership.
- Manage and monitor compliance with company policies like the Staff Engagement, Standards of Conduct, etc.
- Oversee internal HR systems (Paychex, etc.).
- Oversee administration of payroll and benefits function.
- Take a lead role in internal, people-related corporate communications.
Qualifications
- 7 years of progressive experience in HR/People Ops with expert knowledge of human resources processes, policies, and laws.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP (or equivalent certification) is advantageous.
- A strong track record of delivering results across all People Operations disciplines, including, but not limited to, hiring and recruiting, compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management, reward and recognition, and compliance initiatives.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Experience developing and monitoring HR policies and compliance.
- Experience working in client services a plus.
- Strong focus on customer service, quality, and teamwork.
- Collaborative approach to problem-solving and leadership. Passion for empowering employees to engage in our collaborative and inclusive culture.
- Excellent time/project management and organization skills. Comfortable operating in and leading a work environment with rapid change. Accustomed to pivoting when organizational needs or priorities change and can take on unanticipated new initiatives with ease.
- Experienced in and hunger for embedding AI, automation, and technology into the human resource function to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Well-versed in change management strategies.
- High degree of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, including the demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with staff at all levels and to deal with confidential information and all employee matters with diplomacy and discretion.
- Understanding of the nuances of diversity, equity, and inclusion work, and have leveraged these nuances to develop inclusive programs or policies in past roles.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Analytical capability to evaluate information and make data-driven decisions.
- Highly proficient in MS Office products.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn HRIS and talent management systems.
Additional Information
Base salary starting at $120K annually with bonus potential; subject to adjustment based on geolocation.
