OrthoAlabama, a premier Orthopaedic practice with two Birmingham locations, is recruiting a Medical Billing Specialist for our Hoover location.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- May be responsible for submitting claims, working rejections, posting payments, or resolving claim issues through follow up and appeal.
- May require communication with insurance companies to discuss lack of payment and correct the claim by adding a modifier or diagnosis code as required.
- Verifies and completes charge information in database and produces billing.
- Processes and distributes copies of billings according to clinic policies.
- Maintains required billing records, reports, files, etc.
- Corrects and re-submits claim information.
- Understands insurance payment policies.
- Collects patient balances.
Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior coding and claims experience preferred, particularly in Orthopaedics.
- Centricity practice management experience is a plus!
