As a Senior Medical Assistant with OrthoArizona, you will get to:
- Provide coverage at other clinics within the region for callouts and other planned paid time off.
- Act as the primary trainer for all new hires, mentor and train all medical assistants on any process improvement measures, and update company policy and procedures.
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment, including taking vitals and recording patient history.
- Input and maintain appropriate EMR documentation.
- Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary equipment.
- Prepare injections, removes, and applies splints and casts, and applies dressings.
- Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatment including sterilization techniques.
- Assist providers in preparing for minor office procedures.
- Assist with scheduling of tests and treatment.
- Obtain prior authorization as needed, for referral orders and documents the authorization status in medical record.
- Closely monitor voicemail and phone calls, screening for providers.
- Maintain inventory and stocks exam rooms.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of equipment and examination rooms.
- All other duties assigned.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
- Familiarity with equipment and instruments necessary to deliver patient care.
- Knowledge of handling blood products and disposing of contaminated items.
- Knowledge of universal precautions.
- Ability to take vital signs and record results.
- Understand/Perform training on electronic medical record software.
- Continue to expand knowledge of electronic medical record software as updates occur.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Current CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of experience in medical office, preferably Orthopedics.
