GENERAL DESCRIPTION
ThePACU RN will assist the center in providing high quality care during the pre-op phase of the patient’s visit.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assess, instruct & prepare patients prior to surgery;- Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct;
- Take and record vital statistics of patients to ensure readiness for surgical procedure;
- Assess patients’ post-operative condition;
- Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress to ensure patient is meeting discharge criteria;
- Document all findings in patient files;
- Answer patient questions to ensure patient comfort;
- Monitor patients for condition changes, report any changes to physician;
- Perform intervention duties during post-operative emergencies;
- Other responsibilities as needed/assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current NYS RN license;- Minimum of 2 years previous PACU or critical care experience required;
- Ability to effectively communicate with providers, patients and peers;
- Candidate must demonstrate aptitude for maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters, keeping flow to reasonable time frame in post-operative care;
- Candidate must demonstrate ability to gather pertinent medical history and provide concise instruction for pre-operative and post-operative care;
- Specialized knowledge, skill and abilities in perioperative nursing;
- Capable of decision making when applicable.
OTHER INFORMATION
Schedules are Monday through Friday; No weekends, holidays, or on-call.
Salary : $71,000 - $89,900
