Position Summary:
Responsible for performing all data entry functions necessary for accurate and timely coding and input of physician’s daily charges.

Position Responsibilities/Standards:
General
- Attend department, clinic or company meetings as required
- Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns
- Consistently work in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow staff members.
- Consistently demonstrate ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, such as reprioritizing work as necessary.
- Attend required annual in-service programs.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of all company policies and procedures. Adheres to established facility safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor.
Specific Duties
- Maintain all patient charts with encounters for input of charges
- Coding
- Communicate with transcriptionists to resolve any issues associated with physician dictation
- Coordinate pickup, uploading and distribution of physician’s dictation
- View physician dictation along with date of service encounter, assuring support and accuracy of service.
- Enter charges as required by carrier policy and billing policy within 24 hours of receipt of transcription. Reconcile daily charge input with the appointment schedule for dates of service. This ensures all charges are entered.
- Reconcile encounter totals with daily procedure amount
- Run daily procedure report.
- Review data for correctness
- Manage any missing dictation and/or missing charge with the “unbilled encounter report” timely.
Additional Duties
- Coverage for fellow associates as needed
Education/Experience Required:
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous coding experience required.
- CPC Required.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical requirements for the position include the ability to frequently hear and communicate orally, see up close and at a distance, read and comprehend, stand, sit, walk, reach, handle, and feel objects. Must be able to climb, pull, push and kneel. Maximum unassisted lift = 25 lbs. Average lift less than 10 lbs.
