What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at orvis?
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for system maintenance of product cost changes, relating to both foreign and domestic receipts. This position will also be responsible for assisting in our monthly foreign freight and duty analysis, with an emphasis on costing accuracy and the necessary recordkeeping to stay compliant with customs. Teamwork and communication are a must. The best fit for this role will be driven, approachable, and organized. This position will also be involved in Orvis’ ongoing initiative of inventory accuracy across systems.
Who you will be working with:
This position reports directly to the Finance Manager. Internally, the position will interface with retail and warehouse operations, I.T., merch and product teams, and other associates within the finance department. Externally, communication will come from various relationships, including our various audit firms.
How we will measure success:
Successful upkeep and maintenance of product cost changes
Organization of recordkeeping to stay in compliance with customs
What you will be working on:
Updating product cost changes
Resolve various inventory issues / discrepancies
Preform various inventory reconciliations, including on-hand, prepaid and in-transit inventory
Assist in inventory accuracy initiative
Prepare monthly journal entries, reconciliations, and annual audit workpapers
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required:
Associate degree or related accounting experience preferred
Experience with Oracle, AS-400, and Manhattan systems a plus
Requires expert-level Microsoft office skills, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel
Experience with deadline driven responsibilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional problem-solving skills and desire for optimal efficiency
Ability to work in a remote environment with limited supervision and direction
