Description
Principal Objective of Position:
The Weighmaster position is responsible for appropriately weighing and recording all loads that come across the scale. This includes retail and industrial customers; outbound loads and internal weights needed by Metal Recycling operations.
Essential Functions:

- Accurately and effectively operate the truck scale to ensure all incoming and outgoing trucks are weighed, documented and load information is verified.
- Prepare packing slips for outbound loads to steel mills.
- Ensure truck scale is reading accurately and request scale calibrations outside of the normal calibration schedule, when necessary.
- Learn and correctly identify various types of ferrous and non-ferrous metal materials and provide appropriate guidance and direction to customers based on the type of materials they have.
Other Responsibilities:
- Assist customers at the counter, as needed.
- Assist dispatch personnel in dispatching, where needed,
- Perform administrative office tasks, as needed.
- Answer telephone calls, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required:
- High School Diploma or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with internal and external customers, including co-workers, clients, and the public effectively and professionally.
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
- Ability to handle multiple transactions or tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to effectively manage your own time and competing demands and interruptions.
- Knowledge of and skill in operating basic computer programs including, but not limited to MS Office products.
- Ability to learn and use Company ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics) and Company transportation software (Scrap Runner).
- Strong data entry skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior scale experience.
