The Oscoda County Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications for a full time Dispatcher position.
Summary:
As a Dispatcher, you will be a key team player within the Oscoda County Sheriff’s Office. You will be required to perform extensive phone work along with dispatching police, fire and EMS personnel. This position is a 12 hour shift, 84 hour bi-weekly schedule. The applicant must be able to work Day/Night shifts, to include weekends and holidays. Once hired candidates will receive specialized training.
Responsibilities include:
- Operating police and fire radios; receiving requests for police and fire services or information by telephone; determining appropriate resources necessary, transferring calls to other law enforcement agencies, ambulance service, or other appropriate party, providing routine police information, or taking other appropriate action.
- Warrant entry and filing; typing and data entry dealing with a variety of police records and reports. Performing other misc. duties as required.
- Monitoring prisoners in lockup
- Speaking with people from the public in our lobby
- Must have basic computer skills
Qualifications:
Candidates must hold at least a high school diploma or equivalent and have the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Salary:
Starting hourly wage is $16.83 and progressing to $18.78 per hour at 3 years of service per the current union contract.
